Safety & Verification
Exactly how we keep your booking safe
We'd rather tell you precisely what we do than ask you to just trust the word "verified." Here's what actually happens behind every booking.
Every cook is ID-verified and personally reviewed
Before anyone can cook for you, they submit government ID documents through the app. A member of our team reviews and approves every application by hand, not an algorithm. Our system won't offer a cook for any booking until they've been approved: it's enforced in how bookings are matched, not just a policy on paper.
A one-time code confirms it's really them
Once a cook is on the way, you get a unique arrival code in the app. Your cook has to enter that exact code before they can start cooking. It's a simple check that the person at your door is the same person who was actually assigned to your booking.
Your documents and data are kept secure
Identity documents are stored in a private, access-controlled system. Nobody, including our own team, gets a permanent link to them: every view is through a short-lived, time-limited secure link generated on demand. If you delete your account, these documents are permanently removed.
Ratings shape who gets matched
You can rate every booking. Those ratings go straight to our team and factor directly into our matching system: cooks with a strong track record are prioritized for future bookings, and we look into any booking that gets a poor rating.
Cooks on Cookin are independent partners, not Cookin employees; the specifics of that relationship, along with cancellations, refunds, and your data rights, are in our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy. If anything about a booking ever feels wrong, contact us directly and we will look into it.
